Abstract Photography

Your 4th shoot is based on abstract photography. You will have 20 minutes to walk the school IN SILENCE. All of the teachers have been notified that you will be walking the school for this assignment. If you are disruptive they have been informed to report to me! Please be respectful to all other teachers and students.

20 min= 20 photos! Think Fast! You should take at least a photo a minute! We will be sharing your top edited photo on a slide show with CLS and CG. We are going to vote on our TOP 5 pics and they will be blown up large and displayed at a Art Show!

Definition Right from the web...
Abstract photography, sometimes called non-objective, experimental, conceptual or concrete photography, is a means of depicting a visual image that does not have an immediate association with the object world and that has been created through the use of photographic equipment, processes or materials. An abstract photograph may isolate a fragment of a natural scene in order to remove its inherent context from the viewer, it may be purposely staged to create a seemingly unreal appearance from real objects, or it may involve the use of color, light, shadow, texture, shape and/or form to convey a feeling, sensation or impression. The image may be produced using traditional photographic equipment like a camera, darkroom or computer, or it may be created without using a camera by directly manipulating film, paper or other photographic media, including digital presentations.

Abstract Photography Artists to research BEFORE shooting..
Edward Weston -- The pioneer of close up photography! Notice, most images are black and white.. this helps make the images even more mysterious.

-Ola Kolemanine- Uses architecture as an inspiration. Also notice her use of shadows and colored reflective light.

-Andrew S. Gray-S Gray- perfected " the camera shake" by shaking his camera during photographing (essentially playing with shutter speed) Gray is able to force abstract photography
using any landscape.
-Francis Seaward- Known as a contemporary abstract photographer, Seaward uses glass as a method to make simple landscapes more inspiring.
